A slow-time escape to a storied headland. Hike a scenic path to George’s Cove, spread a heritage quilt, and enjoy a locally inspired picnic with an unbeatable view. Simple, beautiful, delicious.

Where do I start my visit?
Begin at the Schoolhouse in New Bonaventure. That’s where you purchase tickets, pick up a map, and get oriented. It’s about a 10-minute walk along a gravel road from the Schoolhouse to the historic village.
How long should I plan for?
Most visitors allow 1.5–2 hours for the Schoolhouse, walk, and village visit. Add time if you’re joining a guided tour, stopping at the Tearoom, or exploring nearby trails.
What should I wear/bring?
Trails and surfaces are gravel/grass with some uneven ground—sturdy footwear and layers are recommended. Weather can change quickly on the coast; bring water and sun/rain protection.
Do I need to book in advance?
Walk-ins are welcome when capacity allows. Advance booking is recommended for guided tours, special events, and the George’s Cove Picnic.
How do I buy tickets?
Purchase on arrival at the Schoolhouse or via the booking page when online sales are available.
How do I get to the site?
See Plan Your Visit ‘for driving directions and the scenic route option. You’ll park at the Schoolhouse and walk to the village.
Is parking available?
Yes, parking is close to the Schoolhouse. From there, it’s a short walk to the site.
Is the site accessible?
The experience includes historic-style buildings, gravel/grass paths, and some inclines. Seating is available at the Tearoom and select rest points. Service animals are welcome. See Accessibility for current details and contact us ahead with specific needs.
Is there food on site?
Yes. The Schoolhouse Tearoom offers home-style soups, breads, bakes, tea, coffee, and seasonal drinks. Menus change with the season; vegetarian options are available. The Tearoom is licensed.
Do you have a gift shop?
Yes! You can browse locally made crafts, textiles, prints, and small-batch goods in our gift shop. You can also visit our online store.
What is the George’s Cove Picnic?
A bookable picnic for two at a scenic coastal headland. We provide the heritage quilt, wicker basket, locally inspired menu items, and a route map.
What if the weather changes?
The picnic is weather-dependent. If conditions require a change, we’ll contact you to reschedule. See the picnic page for full details.
Can I bring my dog?
Leashed dogs are welcome on outdoor trails. Service animals are welcome throughout the site. (Pets are not permitted inside historic buildings or the Tearoom, except service animals.)
