The Unhurried

From windswept headlands to quiet coves, there’s no shortage of stunning natural beauty here. Pack your layers, lace up your boots, and allow the day to get away from you.

Discovery UNESCO Global Geopark

The Random Passage site sits within the Discovery UNESCO Global Geopark, a landscape shaped over millennia and defined by dramatic cliffs, sea stacks, ancient rock, and living coastlines. Explore nearby lookouts and shorelines to see how geology, ocean, and weather have carved the Bonavista Peninsula into a truly unforgettable experience.

Made To Wander

From coastal headlands and sea-stack lookouts to inland barrens and tuckamore-lined paths, the Bonavista Peninsula is perfect for planning a day (or two) around fresh air and quiet scenery. The Random Passage Site also serves as the trailhead for the British Harbour Trail—a rewarding route that connects hikers to remnants of a resettled outport landscape. Click below for trail details, maps, and difficulty ratings, then explore the wider Hike Discovery network for more routes across the region!

Starry, Starry Night

With low light pollution and wide-open horizons, our coastline is an exceptional place for stargazing and simple astronomy. On clear nights you can spot constellations, planets, and—when conditions are right—the Milky Way arching over the headland. We’re currently pursuing formal Dark Sky certification; stay tuned for programs and special events.

George’s Cove Picnic

Our newest offering! Follow a coastal path to a sheltered headland, spread a heritage quilt, and enjoy a locally inspired picnic prepared just for you. It’s a simple, unforgettable way to linger outdoors; enjoy a light hike in, a relaxed meal, and ocean all around. Limited capacity and weather-dependent.

Plan Ahead

Newfoundland weather is notorious for changing quickly; evenings can be cool even in summer. Headlamps, layers, and respect for trails and wildlife will make your time outside safer—and better.
