Built as the set for the acclaimed Random Passage television series, our historically inspired 19th-century outport village now welcomes visitors from around the world. Tucked away on the rugged coastline of the Bonavista Peninsula, the site invites you to walk in the footsteps of Newfoundland’s first wave of settlers in the early 1800s—see the fishing stages, hear their stories, and feel the raw beauty and hardship of life on the edge of survival.

Frequently Asked Questions

A village built in 2000 for the Random Passage TV mini-series that now serves as a living interpretation of early-19th-century outport life. It’s both an iconic film set and a carefully researched heritage experience. 

You can stroll self-guided or join a guided tour offered several times daily in season. Tours connect scenes from the series to real outport practices.  

Typically Wednesday–Sunday, 9:00am–5:00pm in season. The last guided tour generally departs at 4:00pm (2:00pm on Sundays). 

  • Adults: $10.00 
  • Seniors: $8.00 
  • Youth (6–17): $3.50 
  • Children (5 and under): Free 

Plan for 2–3 hours door to door. It’s a light coastal walk on gravel/grass.

Yes. Families often enjoy the walk, guided tour, Tearoom, and casual time outdoors. Please supervise children around historic structures and shoreline areas.
